Nelson artist Kathyrn Furniss brings together a male and female Huia under a moonlit night. Huia birds are a recurring theme in Furniss’s work. This now extinct NZ bird has passed into the realm of mythology.

Artist Bio:

Kathryn resides in Nelson with her husband where they raised their two sons.

Bought up by an artistic father she was encouraged to explore her natural creative abilities. As a self taught artist she draws her inspiration from pacific landscape, objects and native birds working in acrylics with layers of colour and texture to give the viewer a feel of depth.

In the past 13 years Kathryn has had numerous successful exhibitions throughout NZ and internationally.
